I'm not a big sports fan, but there are some things I like to follow. I follow mostly teams from my locale because it gives me something to talk about on the bus every once in a while. But I have been following the Tour de France this year. I enjoyed reading about the strength and endurance that the leaders and rivals exhibited, and I feel good for a man who came back from having one of the deadliest diseases-- cancer-- to win the Tour for a record sixth time.
Yet I couldn't help the feeling that some fucked up American is thinking to his/herself, "take that you slimy French...I guess we showed you... and we'll take your stinking trophy too...". Then there was that German guy who spit on Armstrong...WHY?!
At the risk of sounding like a peace loving moron...why can't we all just get past our differences and enjoy this moment?
